Kuganha pioneers a new global category of private wellness safari, uniting ultra-luxury, Big Five safari and rewilding just outside Cape Town.
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Kuganha has opened in South Africa’s Western Cape, pioneering a new category of luxury wellness safari within a 10,000-hectare rewilded Big Five conservancy, less than 2.5 hours from Cape Town.
Kuganha features only 10 private tented suites,
Its pioneering concept brings a complete world of private wellness into the comfort of each guest’s tented suite, with an exceptional range of experiences, facilities and equipment available 24 hours a day.
The concept has been developed from more than 25 years of hosting high-net-worth travelers, celebrities, sports stars and diplomats visiting Cape Town, and recognizing their demand for greater privacy, exclusivity, convenience, quality, tranquility and in-suite service.
The launch comes as Cape Town continues to strengthen its position among high-value, long-haul international travelers. In 2025, the city welcomed 1.44 million foreign overnight visitors who stayed an average of 9.5 nights and generated R19 billion in direct tourism spending, reinforcing the destination’s growing importance within the international premium travel market.
Kuganha has therefore been designed to provide guests with comprehensive wellness, culinary and hospitality experiences within the privacy of their own tented suite and at the individual rhythm and pace of each guest.
Each suite includes extensive private wellness facilities, with more in-room wellness equipment and facilities than many conventional spas. These include a sauna, steam room, Himalayan salt oxygen halotherapy room, flotation deprivation pod, ice plunge bath, Jacuzzi plunge pool, double massage beds and private massage facilities.
An introductory wellness journey forms part of the Kuganha experience and introduces guests to the safe use and operation of the private in-suite wellness facilities.
The wellness concept is built around a simple philosophy: The spa must rewild your soul. The food must rewild your body. The wellness must rewild your mind.
The culinary experience has been designed to restore and replenish and can be customized around the personal wellness, reset and rewild journey of each guest.
Guests can expect fine cuisine using fresh, organic, sustainable and locally sourced produce, with no effort or expense spared in creating a high-end culinary experience.
Dining can be enjoyed in the privacy of the tented suite or in the Kuganha restaurant overlooking the infinity pool and waterhole, with views across the vast Karoo landscapes, mountain ranges, safari wildlife and night skies.
The intention is that guests will run out of appetite before Kuganha runs out of cuisine.
Kuganha’s broader philosophy is to use wellness, culinary and safari experiences to help guests reset and rewild their mind, body and soul from urban and global stressors, pollution, social media and the pressures of modern life.
The 10,000-hectare conservancy on which Kuganha is located has undergone extensive rewilding, including the rehabilitation of large areas of rare and indigenous vegetation and the reintroduction of the Big Five and other safari wildlife to this part of the Western Cape after many species had been hunted out of the region more than 270 years ago.
This conservation and rewilding work has received significant international recognition for its contribution to conservation, social upliftment and sustainable tourism.
Kuganha now brings the same rewilding philosophy to its guests.
By combining unique private in-suite wellness, culinary excellence, Big Five safari wildlife, conservation and ultra-luxury tented accommodation, Kuganha is pioneering a new wellness safari category from Cape Town and South Africa’s Western Cape.
